What an interesting pain, very hot, throbbing, and I felt wobbly. I quickly said “Om Mani Pame Hum” over and over. I feel comforted by this mantra.

My love took me to the hospital where they gave me some wonderful drugs for discomfort, and then popped it back in. I had it in a sling for a bit and then tried to carry on, kind of as normal. After 6 weeks of wishful thinking, I finally gave in to the groaning of the shoulder and went to see someone who actually knows about such things. I found out today that I may have to have some surgery on it. An interesting journey for a right-handed musician. For the past 6 weeks I have been avoiding my guitar, as I can’t seem to get my arm around it, so I have been messing with my old friend baritone horn. I had this wonderful idea to try and play drums and horn together. What fun. Almost too much fun. I watch my brain and hands stutter as I try and separate the mechanics of both.  I never would have thought of it if I hadn’t have fallen. I must thank that mischievous menacing spirit. While live gigs are few and far between at the moment, this new potential certainly does make me smile and I sure am thankful that I didn’t break my neck that day. Today’s challenge was Superstitious by Stevie Wonder, thinking about how fortunate I am and loving the simplicity of a fresh organic apple.
